EDUCATION

the primary goal of the norman borlaug school is the training of young spies. recruitment typically occurs around the ages of 15 and after a detailed evaluation. patterns of anti-social behaviour are preferred but not necessary for recruitment. patterns of delinquency and disobedience are to be unlearned within the first six months of recruitment or the candidate is culled. registration into one of the three programs typically takes place within the first year of recruitment. the norman borlaug school is an international retailer for spies, known for yielding remarkable resuilts and with a flawless reputation.

RELIGION

the school premises harbor a chapel that is accessible for staff and student body alike. the denomination is roman catholic. all students are required to participate in sunday mass and go to church on the holy days of obligation, as well as go to the confessional once per school term. while baptism is per se not a requirement to attend the norman borlaug school for orphans, a lot of students are baptised and a not insignificant portion is actively religious, as enforced by the head principal. the school choir is simultaneously also a church choir, with both christopher and maverick being trained in gregorian chant.

EXTRACURRICULARS

the norman borlaug school offers a range of extracurricular, from orchestra and choir, over swimming and ballet, to robotics and software development. courses that are obligatory parts of some programs but not others can typically be requested as extracurriculars as well but are limited in number of participants.

What is the fulcrum? What a complex question that is. It's a composition of four parts that, if all puzzle pieces neatly fit together, reveals a list of names: key, bubble module, interface, and cypher. four parts for four traitors to store. the cypher for alan fitch, the interface for someone close to the president, the key for someone in the oil industry, and the bubble module... the bubble module got lost, shoved hastily in the toy of a girl named masha rostova. or elizabeth reddington?
the cabal was always meant to consume you and spit you out, soulless, half-dead. four people found out a secret about the cabal that they dilligently documented and sealed off until the day they would make it public. a secret so big, it could destroy the entire civilisation as we know it.a secret like the existence of something unhuman.

state of events:

In the late 80s, a Naval officer groomed to be admiral creates a blackmail file using information in the possession of a certain Katarina Rostova that not only proves the existence of a vast shadow government which has infiltrated several nation-states in both their governments and economies, but contains the names of some of its members also. In order to muzzle him, the coordinates of the USS Gideon are stolen from him and the ship sinks in 1990, including all serving officers onboard. Raymond Reddington is framed as a traitor before he can prove the existence of the Cabal to the public and becomes, counterintuitive to the Cabal’s intentions, the one man obsessively fixated with taking the multi-headed hydra down, irrespective of what it takes.The Cabal has no known single leader and is instead led by a changing international committee of high-ranking members from various fields, including industry, military, politics, and intelligence. By the early 2010s, its influence spans several capitals and other big cities across the globe with a particularly dense network in Central Europe and the United States of America. Its ultimate objectives are only vaguely known; Peter Kotsiopulos says the Cabal provides peace and stability, Laurel Hitchin contradictorily states that its purpose is to reignite tensions between the United States and Russia. Special Agent Moa Zhao seems to confirm the latter when warning about a nuclear war that might ensue if the knowledge that Katarina Rostova saved in the Sikorsky Archive, of which a fractioned was transferred into the Fulcrum by Raymond Reddington before she disappeared, fell into wrong hands – but she is responsible for Katarina Rostova’s disappearance, together with Raymond Reddington and Ilya Koslov, so how trustworthy is her word?And the Cabal is inseparably linked to the Ilaria Corporation.

In 2014, an isolated research station is temporarily investigated by the CDC for outbreak risk when a researcher gets infected by the virus the station is researching. The infection is contained, the press doesn’t even make note of it, but the Narvik virus and the Fulcrum share one similarity: both are weapons.The research at the Arctic BioSystems laboratory is funded by the Ilaria Corporation which operates on the very same committee structure as the Cabal, just that the committee members do not change and have not changed for hundreds of years. Derisively labeled Big Pharma, the Ilaria Corporation publicly makes a name for itself with the commitment “to applying science and our global resources to improving the health and well-being of people around the world”. Its five-hundred members are mostly elusive and invisible to the public eye and all five-hundred of them are immortal.The Industrial Revolution in the late 18th century leads to a change in the trajectory of how humankind interacts with the world. Europe’s population doubles from 100 million to 200 million, and again from 200 million to 400 million in the 19th century. The resources on Earth are finite; the first Earth Overshoot Day takes place on December 29th 1970 and shifts to an earlier date every year. The Cabal is formed to control human population through war, through famine, and if necessary, through a virus specifically designed by a research station in the Arctic. No member within the precursor of either Cabal or the Ilaria Corporation wants a complete annihilation of the human species. Reproduction among immortals is strictly controlled: while it’s near impossible to not pass on the gene for immortality, it’s unlikely to activate it. But that small likelihood is enough to enforce a strict rule of five-hundred to ensure the population never exceeds its demand for resources. Humans in their inability to follow suit slowly become a pest. By the early 2010s, the global population exceeds seven billion.Peace through a minimizing of the global population is what unifies the seemingly contradictory statements of those within the Cabal.

Alan Fitch (Alan Alda), the Assistant Director of US National Intelligence and senior member of the Cabal. During the Cold War, he was known as “The Decembrist” and was apparently a major figure in the world of espionage that operated extensively to end the Soviet Union communist regime. For that end, In 1990, Fitch orchestrated the bombing of a Soviet Union meeting aligned with the communist regime in Kursk, killing 15 people. Also in 1990, Fitch framed a US naval intelligence officer named Reddington of treason by leaking classified U.S military documents that led to the destruction and sinking of an American submarine called the USS Gideon, killing 134 people. He did that to kill and/or discredit Reddington before he released damaging information on the Cabal, known as the Fulcrum. Red has arranged for those secrets to be divulged in the event of his death in order to make sure Fitch's organization stays away from him. Fitch was the one responsible for Berlin's daughter's disappearance, having helped her escape from a gulag and fake her death.Laurel Hitchins (Christine Lahti), formerly the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs and currently the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. She was responsible for the assassination attempts of Elizabeth Milhoan after Milhoan went public about being the lost daughter of Katarina Rostova. When Reddington threatens to turn Kotsiopulos over to Venezuelan authorities, who in return will have him brought him before the Hague on war crimes charges, Hitchins prevents the assassination and publicly exonerates Milhoan on all charges except the Thomas Connolly murder, offering to let her plead to involuntary manslaughter and serve three years probation which ends Milhoan’s FBI career but allows her to remain a free woman.Constance Sutton (Jeri Ryan), the Chief Operating Officer of Ilaria Corporation, which owns and operates Arctic BioSystems, and a senior member of the Cabal. She is one of the main financial investors and one of the original founders. Ilaria Corporation itself is composed of five hundred immortals who, faced with a dwindling of nature’s resources, aim to control human population growth and reduce the total population to 25%.Dr. Hiroshi Hatake (Hiroyuki Sanada), the Head of the Arctic BioSystems laboratory in the arctic and a senior member of the Cabal. His cooperation was enforced by threatening his daughter, Dr. Julia Walker. Walker later becomes a member of the Cabal herself, after an infection with a classified Narvik virus activates the immortality gene she inherits from her father, halting her aging and making her immune or at least successfully resistant to most conventional diseases. Hiroshi Hatake indeed is the oldest living immortal next to Moa Zhao, having lived over five hundred years – but Moa Zhao’s life spans many times over and seems to be unlike anyone else’s.

Katarina excommunicado

it's important to consider moa a recurring character in the shows The X Files, The Blacklist, NCIS, and Fringe (possibly more): there will be some canon divergences here and there but they do not impact the overall storylines. Two very important ones, other than the existence of Moa, are the inclusion of Leroy Jethro Gibbs' Daughter Elenore Gibbs and Peter Bishop's sister Kathryn Bishop. Both belong to my loml and long-standing rp partner @bak3rs.

19th century:

1803 ................... Moa meets fifty-three year old Constance Sutton who looks no day older than thirty-nine and who attempts to win her over for the Ilaria Corporation; they meet again twenty years later and neither has gotten a day older: the Ilaria Corporation is the origin of the cabal

20th century:

1982 ................... Moa meets Raymond Reddington in his second year at the Naval Academy and becomes his mentor. Occasionally, people hint at them dating (with an age gap of seemingly 10 years); two years later, he leaves her for Katarina Rostova who's pregnant with a daughter
1990 ................... Raymond's then wife, Carla, and their daughter Jennifer are taken into protective custody and Raymond disappears together with the Fulcrum, a list of cabal members copied from a file in the possession of Katarina Rostova. Moa sets out to find both: on one hand, the fulcrum is sure to deliver a fatal blow to the cabal, on the other hand, it exposes her (immortal) existence too
1991 ................... Shannon Gibbs and her daughter Kelly are killed on the way to testify against Pedro Hernandez; Moa is present during the funeral and during the fight between Jethro and his father
1992 ................... Moa and Fox Mulder meet for the first time with Fox assisting during a really strange case overseen by Moa's unit; they will remain friends until his disappearance in 2000
1996 ................... Moa begins fostering 14-year-old Theodore Wells after multiple child welfare checkups; two years later, his father loses parental rights and Theo is adopted by Moa
2000 ................... Jethro is notified about having a biological daughter with Patricia Matheson that now requires a suitable custodian; Moa picks up Elenore, spends the first couple days with her while filing paperwork, and then accompanies her to Jethro's Home. For the next couple years, she's very involved in Ellie's upbringing

21st century:
